Gallery Bookshop Damaged By Fire

On Jan 8, 2008 there was a severe fire in the apartment above Gallery Bookshop in Mendocino. Everyone is okay, but our bookstore suffered significant smoke and water damage. We need to clear the store of books and merchandise in order to clean, re-paint and re-rug.

We plan to remain open for our customers in some capacity while the building is being repaired, but our current inventory has to go. As of now, our entire stock is available at a 25% discount. Most of our books are in good readable condition and look just fine; some just carry the lovely scent of old-growth redwood smoke. We hope you'll come in and stock up on your winter reading!

We are encouraging customers to leave their mailing or email address (in person or via the 'subscribe' link at left on this page) so that we can keep them informed of our progress and invite them to our grand reopening. We expect that the restoration process will be speedy and that our store will be back to its full functionality by Spring.

Back by popular demand: Sexy Mamas! Gallery Bookshop honors our community's mothers with a women-only, after-hours special event Wednesday, May 7.

At 6 pm the doors close on the regular business day and reopen for wine, snacks, chocolates by Papa Bear's Chocolate Haus, book browsing, and the company of other mamas! Local massage therapists will be on hand to refresh tired moms with free shoulder massage.

At 6:30 pm author Anne Semans leads a discussion based on her book, Sexy Mamas: Keeping Your Sex Life Alive While Raising Kids.
